Mary Helen Washington appears in the new PBS documentary on playwright Lorraine Hansberry, which is available for free viewing here.
Professor Washington was also interviewed by the Boston Globe regarding the documentary. She says, “There are so many ways in which [Hansberry's] political and her literary legacy have been shaped by the way people have refused to show her.
